or the users of Google Desktop, Google came up with new Google desktop widget to play around your feeds and followups. This widget counted from its 20% project. This has been developed by Google Desktop expert, James Yum.

This Google desktop widget lets you to use most of the Google Reader’s features with out opening any browser. It’ll fit as a sidebar on your desktop where you can view your subscribed feeds and read the entire story in a decent sized pop up window.

The Google Reader widget works with both Google Desktop panel and off the panel as well. One major drawback is that it can’t properly display HTML-formatted feeds yet, meaning some of your feeds will be unreadable with images and page formatting stripped out.

I found it is a great convenience factor. You can get updated with your subscribed feeds no matter what you’re doing, and read entire articles without the need to launch another app or be signed in with a specific Google account back in the browser.

To use this widget, you must have Google desktop on your computer. Go hear and download Google Reader Widget.
