Bing – The Decision Engine From Microsoft

In one of my post, I’ve posed about Microsoft new search technology “KUMO”. On thursday, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer addressed officially about their new search technology “BING”. The official name of Microsoft new search technology is Bing. The project known early by its name Kumo turned as Bing now.
Bing will be the next move of Microsoft on its search tecnology. As Google search is grabbing most of the online visitors, the only thing can do to beat Google in its own game is instead of focusing more on relevency, Microsoft thought on the way of presenting results and developed the Bing, the decision engine.
Bing will present the search results just not like a bunch of ordered websites like Google, Yahoo and Live… Bing will present the necessary information from all segments for that particular product in the first page. For example, you search for “travel dubai”, then Bing will display the airfares websites, travel destinations in Dubai, maps of Dubai destinations, restaurants and hotels in Dubai, shopping in Dubai etc… I feel this is really interesting, Bing will provide all necessaory information for potential visitor related to that search query unlike visitor have to search with keyphrases every time, Bing will provide all the information related to that search query.
This move will definitely caught attention of SEO’s, As lot of SEO companies are relying on Google, Yahoo and Live, the traditional search engines, Bing, the decision engine is differnet in presenting results and need to watch what SEO strategies will make the websites to crack rankings in Bing as well…
The uncovered issue with Bing is why Microsoft is not using its brand for Bing? Microsoft is great brand name and its not using any brand for its Bing.
So…Bing. It’s a good name, and looks to be a great experience, one that makes “search” more of a destination, rather than a launch pad, as desribed by Ballmer in one of his interview. It’s a destination that packages pieces of the Web to present a coherent response to search terms, making Bing more of a portal and less of a search engine.
I might give Bing an extended search, however, as it seems content to fall on its own merits, not Microsoft’s brand.
